SPRF x SACAC Visual Fellowship
Ghata was a village around water. Now it's a village around absence—a 370-acre lake reduced to 40, replaced by concrete and settlement. The migrant population here sustains Gurgaon's urban systems: they collect waste, build infrastructure, move goods. They are strategically essential and systematically excluded. These photographs document what that looks like.
Gurugram: The Urban Village
Who is a native? Not the migrant families living in jhuggi clusters for 15+ years. They've been stripped of village citizenship yet denied city belonging. They labour in Gurgaon's economy, build its infrastructure, yet remain invisible against its skyline. These portraits situate them precisely in that gap: placed against the Gurgaon they sustain but don't inhabit. The series examines what it means to be perpetually estranged—from the villages you've left and the cities where your labour is essential but your presence unwanted.

Journey to Justice
What is the cost of being innocent in India? 69% of the country's prison population awaits trial—convicted by delay, not by evidence. Arnav Kashyap's parents are among them. Arrested on fabricated charges, harassed by corrupted police, their case stalled in courts. At 16, Arnav began navigating the judiciary alone—not seeking justice, but survival. This series documents what the criminal justice system costs those trapped within it: time, freedom, belief.
